Implications of visual information do not go unnoticed in the current climate; administrators as well as front-line instructors need to focus on the visual component as it effects the individual's ability to learn. The most recent trends in the historical development of visual literacy will be addressed. A sampling of instructional approaches, including portals, gaming, and approaches appropriate for museum settings, will be explored. The panel will also propose future opportunities for art librarians and visual resource curators to play in promoting visual literacy to users who are not art historians.
